Survey: Tell us about parental mental health!

Healthwatch Trafford want to hear about your experiences of mental health in relation to having a child. This includes during and after pregnancy, and any parent can take part regardless of gender.

Following Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week (2 – 8 May 2022), as well as the increased concerns around mental health during the pandemic, we decided we wanted to find out a bit more about parental mental health in Trafford. According to the Royal College of Psychiatrists, around 10 to 15 in every 100 women experienced postnatal depression as of 2018. That number may have changed, and there are a number of other mental health problems that can affect both the person giving birth as well as their partner. Did you know that postnatal depression has been shown to affect fathers?

We want to ensure that information about local support is up to date and also whether further work is needed in this area. Our findings will be made available to the public online, and will be shared with any relevant service providers. Remember, your voice matters and by sharing your stories you can help improve health and social care in Trafford.
